I’ve actually tried to start writing about this like five times now. So much went down and it was such a good weekend I’m stuck for somewhere to start :)

I headed over to Blackpool on the Friday evening to meet up with the gang at a pub and to receive some kind of instruction as to how everything was going to go down on the Saturday. We sorted a few things out, ate some food, and I proceeded to get hosed on Stella (as usual). I think I also managed to wreck some shit near Jim’s house on the way back from the pub. Evil beer, sorry about that Jim.

Saturday was the actual day of the wedding, and after shaking the cobwebs from my head we checked in to the De Vere White’s hotel in Blackpool (which was about as hot as it was phat. No air conditioning, what’s that about?!) where I showered up and donned the suit that I’d sweat for the rest of the day in.

The wedding itself was surprisingly short, the service can’t have lasted more than about 20 minutes or so in total. After that, everyone trundled back to the hotel for the photos (only a few were taken outside the church as it was covered in scaffold and corrugated iron :/ ) and the reception. I think the residents were glad it was a short service as the sheer number of people that turned up to the wedding and the traffic it generated as a result caused total chaos :P

As for ushering, well that was fairly easy. We just had to be on hand to look good in our suits, and to help people out with anything they need like directions for various things at the wedding, when they’d be needed for photos, and so on. I have to say it was a real honour to be asked to usher at Jim’s wedding, cheers Jimiii :)

Once the serious stuff was out of the way it was time to kick back a bit and party at the reception. Jim had a stroke of genius when he asked Greg’s band ‘Milk’ to play, they were absolutely fucking superb. They played two sets, the first being slow and kinda chill so as not to freak anyone out too much, and then a second set later on once people had some alcohol in their system and were a bit more loose :) Mainly covers and stuff, including Greg’s best impression of Vanilla Ice.

Sunday was pretty chill as we checked out of De Vere’s and then headed to Jim and Krissi’s house for a bit to help him open a few of his presents and to say our thanks and goodbyes. Me, Greg and Suraya left fairly early as Suraya was feeling a bit ill and we were all kinda knackered anyway. It was an ace weekend, and I’m super stoked for Jim and Krissi as they make an excellent couple and I know they’ll be very happy together.

If you’re interested I took a few photos which are here. They’re all fairly crap, and I didn’t take that many on account of not really having time because I was either a) ushering or b) drinking.

Thanks again to Jim and Krissi, and the best of luck to you both.
