I’ve left it way too long since my last update so now I’m in the unfortunate position of trying to cram what I’ve been up to over the last month or so into the space of a (reasonably) short update. I guess a picture tells a thousand words, so here’s a few links to some recent photos I’ve uploaded:

· La Jolla, San Diego
· Tijuana, Mexico
· Tucson, Tombstone and Bisbee, Arizona

The holiday period was actually fairly uneventful, most people having headed home to be with family meant that PB was like a ghost town especially in the evenings. New Year’s Eve was fairly cool though, me and Mick (who came to stay here for three weeks) went to some random party where everyone was dressed up super nice (apart from us, obviously), drank free beer, and made a mess of the place.

New Year’s Day was something else though, as me, Mick, and a few other friends decided to head down to Tijuana and see what the deal was down there. I can some TJ up in two familiar, succinct words - Fucked Up.

It wasn’t actually as dirty or as shady as some people had made it out to be, but it was still fairly sketch. We parked in the US and walked across the border, electing to walk through the city centre to a street with a few bars on it as opposed to catching a cab. This afforded us the opportunity to do a little bit of ’sightseeing’, on the way, which was actually fairly depressing due to the fact that there are so many people young and old on the streets begging for money or peddling whatever souvenirs they can.

We ended up meeting a few more people in some bar, and although I’d set out that day to take it easy on the alcohol it became immediately apparant that that wasn’t going to be the case. $1 bottles of Corona - can’t really argue with that.

As far as riding goes I’ve not been doing all that much save from the usual runs up and down the beach every day, and the odd trip to Clairmont YMCA skatepark. Chris has had to head back to the UK and Craig has had a busted knee which has put him off his bike for a while. Taylor is usually busy (either with his missus or his job) too, which means that not much has been going on. In that respect I’m looking forward to coming back to the UK to session some decent skateparks, though I’m probably going to be sketchy at first having not really ridden properly in a couple of months.

My last weekend in Arizona was awesome too. I stayed with Heather and her family who are some of the nicest and most generous people I’ve ever had the fortune of meeting. We managed to do some touristy type stuff this time which included heading to Tombstone (O.K Corral) and to Bisbee. Tombstone was ruined a bit by the way in which they’d raped (commercialised) the history of the place, but Bisbee was pretty cool and certainly like no other township I’ve visited before.

That’s about it really. I’ll be back in the UK on the 21st, ready to eat some Indian food and drink some decent ale but I’m not looking forward to the weather. Oh, and I need a job.

  5. I might offer to wash it, but then give random passer-bys the opportunity to take a baseball bat to your car for 30 secs for a fee of 10 UKP.
