If there’s one thing that sucked about my timing of being in the US it’s that almost no bands toured, and for the most part those that did I usually missed due to one thing or another getting in the way. So I was stoked to read that Transistor Transistor were touring Europe, and that their dates for playing in the UK were just after I returned.

We caught them at the Brudenell Arms in Leeds on the 22nd, same venue as where I’d seen Lungfish play. It’s not a bad location, kinda hard to find but it’s a decent arrangement inside and the sound isn’t too bad. The best thing about this place is the incredible amount of extremely cute girls that wander around. I swear I saw Mena Suvari’s twin sister wandering around wearing a Bluetip t-shirt, no less.

Anyway, about the gig. TT played a 30 minute or so set comprising of tracks old and new, seemingly played at twice the speed of anything they’ve recorded. It was all tight though, and sounded killer. Only thing that bugged me was the sound of their guitars, which didn’t have the resolution or the ‘meatyness’ of their recorded sound which is a bit of a shame. Their drummer though, damn that girl can hit those skins hard.

I did take some photos, but they’re stuck on my camera as I’ve left the USB data transfer cable somewhere in San Diego. Clever of me, huh? They’re probably all fairly shit anyway as I wasn’t in the best position to take a decent shot.

As for being back in the UK, well it’s all good so far apart from the lack of a job. Weather is shit, of course, but it’s good to see familiar faces and family again, not to mention being able to ride a few skateparks, drink decent ale and eat Indian food :)
