Just in case you haven’t heard:
Eric Axelson from The Dismemberment Plan is playing bass with Davey von Bohlen and Dan Didier, both formerly of The Promise Ring. The band is called Maritime, and their record entitled “Glass Floor” will be out on May 31st, 2004. They recorded here in DC with J. Robbins at Inner Ear and Phase Studios. Naturally the music has many influences, but to my ears it sounds a bit Elliot Smith-ish. For more information, including tour dates, go to the band’s website at www.maritimesongs.com.
While not officially on any label, J. Robbins’ new band Channels continue to work on writing their first full-length record and I’m happy to report that 10 songs are now done. In addition to the writing, they’re starting to play a handful of live shows. Mr. Robbins now has his own website up at www.jrobbins.net. While there, you can hear an MP3 from the new Maritime record.
That’s via Kim Coletta over at DeSoto Records.
