The last couple of weeks have been hectic to say the least. We’ve had Paul Kintner in the motherfuckinghouse leaving a trail of destruction and broken hearts (mainly the former, mind) as well as myself negotiating a deal for a phat job in Derby. PK apparently got eighth at the pro finals of the Bournemouth Backyard Jam (beating the likes of Osato and Alcantara) so we’re stoked. I’m sure it was down the the pie and chips we fed him beforehand though.

So anyway, aside from all that stupid BMX nonsense, down to shit that matters.

According to the last Dischord mail update, Black Eyes have split. Shitty. As for good news, there’s some (predictable) updates on Channels (courtesy of DeSoto):

Everybody keeps asking us all the time: “What’s J. Robbins up to?” After the demise of his much-loved Burning Airlines, J. found himself married, constantly booked as recording engineer/producer, and a dog owner, in no particular order of importance. Just when you thought one man couldn’t wring any more hours out of a day, J. must have perfected travel at near-light-speed, effectively warping timespace enough to create enough time for writing songs and eating (in that order of importance).

And where did he look for bandmates? First, in his house: wife Janet Morgan contributes bass and singing duties, as well as an implacable sense of purpose, to the operation. And not far outside their Baltimore backyard, Darren Zentek, late of Oswego and Kerosene 454 (and one of my personal all-time favorite drummers; I could honestly listen to Darren play a solo for 2 hours straight if he would humor me), was looking for love. With Channels he found it.

They have a DC show coming up really soon - Friday, April 16th, at the Warehouse Next Door (www.warehousetheater.com). It’s at 1017 7th St. NW, and they are playing with Retisonic. Doors at 9PM, $7, all ages. They are also playing on April 20th at NorthSix (http://www.northsix.com/shows.htm) on 66 North 6th Street, Brooklyn, NY. They are playing with Beauty Pill and New Electric; doors at 8PM, and tickets are $10.

Yeah, wish I was in DC. Channels and Retisonic together? If only.

Also, some random dude from Spain sent this:

Hi there Nick!…

I´m writing you from Spain. Have heard about a new band (The
Tourist),featuring ex- Kerosene 454 members…Who are they?…Wall bros. or
Denno?..Zentek?…
could you send me some info on this band?
I know they´ll be playing in here…

If that’s true, I’m fucking stoked. I can’t see it being Zentek as he’s doing this thing with J. Robbins now, but it’d be awesome to hear Erik Denno again or one of the Wall brothers doing something. We’ll see.
