Your choice in music could make you a terrorist
This is too funny - check this story out over at Yahoo: “Passenger Detained Over Song Choice”.
Mann asked the driver to play “London Calling” by the Clash [..] Mann, 24, also asked the driver to play “Immigrant Song” by Led Zeppelin, which begins, “The hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new lands, to fight the horde singing and crying Valhalla, I’m coming!”
At least he had a halfway decent taste in music.
Oh, and I’ll buy a pint for the first person that can tell me who rode to that Zep track, and in which video.
Gig updates
Sod’s law that the one band I really wanted to see this year are playing in the UK whilst I’m in the US. Not only that, but Retisonic are touring again too - and yep, I won’t be here to see them either. I think I’ll have missed that band play more times than I saw Bluetip.
Anyway, updates over here.
Ricaine
I’ve been really into this band called ‘Ricaine’ as of late. I first came across a track of theirs on the Zerobros’ “Animal Rights Benefit” CD compilation a few years back, and only recently got around to downloading some of their stuff for a proper listen. I don’t actually recall what prompted me to remember them, but anyway…
They are (or er, were) fucking awesome.
New Old School?
I found a fairly old issue of Ride UK the other day with an ace photo (courtesy of Brad MacDonald) in the centre spread of Pete Augustin. He’s riding a hip at the Home Ave. ditches in San Diego, and the caption at the bottom reads something like “A 28 year old Pete Augustin proves that you’re never to old to have fun riding your bike”. I honestly remember thinking at the time “whoah, 28 is really old - I’ll be stoked if I’m still riding at that age”.
I’ve put up the scans that I’ve done from some old photos here. I’ve a load more of these to go through but I haven’t had time to scan that many more in, so it’ll have to wait until my parents are settled at their new place and their stuff is unpacked before I get chance to sort any more. There’s some pretty cool shots in there though….
