Split Lip
Kellie: “Hey Nick, you do know that the bottom tube on your BMX frame has a split in it?”
Me: “Yeah right, it’s probably just a scratch…”
Kellie: “No seriously, there’s a split in the metal!”
Me: “I doubt it babe, metal doesn’t usually just split and anyway, these frames are practically indestructable.”

Fuck.
Furniture has no say in life
Me and Kel are on the scrounge for any bits of furniture that may be going cheap / free, pretty much anything other than a bed really. If you have anything, give me a shout!
Apple’s Mail.app and self-signed SSL certificates
Here’s the post from Apple’s KB on how to import a self-signed certificate so that Mail.app doesn’t nag you any more when initially connecting:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25593
In short:
1. Click “Show certificate” when Mail asks if you want to accept the certificate.
2. Press the Option key while dragging the certificate to the desktop. The certificate’s icon appears on the desktop.
3. Add the certificate to your keychain by dragging its icon on top of Keychain Access. Tip: Keychain Access is located in the Utilities folder (Applications/Utilities).
4. When Keychain Access opens, you may be prompted to select which keychain to import to. If this happens, choose a keychain and also select X509 Anchors.
I’ve found that it’s best to click on ‘Show Keychains’ and then select ‘X509 Anchors’, then just drag the saved certificate straight from the desktop into there.
Posting this here I seem to easily forget how to do this, and as there’s a slew of badly-worded instructions returned by a Google search on how to do this posting it here will save me losing it in future.
Fuckfuckfuck
So I fucked up with my passport renewal. Basically the thing is damaged as the foil at the back is starting to peel in two corners, and the form for this interview with the US Embassy states quite clearly that your passport must be mint. I’ve actually had over three weeks to sort this but I went on Friday to sort it thinking I could have it replaced same day. Shame I didn’t read this on the UK Passport Service’s website:
Premium same-day service
This is a guaranteed service whereby you deliver your application and collect your passport later the same day
[..]
This service is not available if you are applying for a first passport, extension to a passport, or to replace a lost, stolen or damaged passport.
The quickest they can replace a lost, stolen or damaged passport is one week, which means that I won’t have it in time for the appointment with the US Embassy on Wednesday. Not a big deal you say? Yeah right - the next appointment they can give me is July the 13th. Another month of having to wait around for closure on whether I can even go or not.
